bio-djb-nDavid Bentsen joined Speidel Law Firm as an associate attorney in June, 2009, following his graduation from Willamette Law School, where he was a member of the Law Review and Executive Editor of the Journal of International Law and Dispute Resolution.  David has an excellent legal mind for research, writing and legal argument.  For example, his 2011 brief regarding the Recall of Mayor Rick Heiberg of Coulee City resulted in the Supreme Court of Washington entering its order supporting our position without requiring the customary oral argument.  David has earned the respect and appreciation of clients, as reflected in this client note of March 2012: “Thank you David Bentsen for your help with our real estate purchase.  You were a pleasure to work with and very professional.  I will recommend your services to anyone needing an attorney’s assistance.”

David was selected to serve on the Board of the Chelan-Douglas Volunteer Attorney Services in 2011 and currently serves as Vice President.  This organization provides free legal services to low income people in Chelan and Douglas counties.  Each year approximately 240 local attorneys donate over 500 hours of time to ensure access to justice for hundreds of people with civil legal problems.

David is an avid rower.  He rowed as an undergraduate at Pacific Lutheran University, then was an assistant coach of the Women’s crew team at Willamette, which went to their first ever NCAA Division III National Championships appearance in 2009.  David immediately brought his knowledge and passion to service on the Board of the Wenatchee Row and Paddle Club, starting in Fall 2009 and continuing to the present day.  In April 2010, he coordinated the Wenatchee Row and Paddle Club’s Spring Learn-To-Row event.  He was a lead organizer of the 2011 David Thompson Columbia Brigade welcoming celebration in Wenatchee.  David is currently working to establish a masters rowing program in the valley.  He was also part of a small group that established the Pacific Lutheran University Rowing Alumni Association in 2011.

Additionally, David is President of the Wenatchee Rotaract Club, a young professionals group affiliated with the Downtown Wenatchee Rotary Club.  David serves as the Rotaract representative on the Westside Leadership Committee of the Rotary Club.

In October 2013, David was elected Secretary of the Chelan-Douglas Young Lawyers Division, which helps new and young lawyers orient themselves in the legal and local community.  A premier young lawyers organization in Washington State, they focus on public service and mentorship along with work-life balance.
